The Derby High School students shone brightly at Media City in the final of the I AM Creative Competition. The Derby had two teams in the final: From the Flame and Lit. The competition was of an unbelievably high standard as Parrenthorn High School, Woodhey High School and Tottington all delivered amazing pitches.
The breadth of innovative ideas was phenomenal as they all adhered to The E.ON energy brief to produce an advertising campaign that uses a ‘big idea’ to convince customers to save energy. According to the judges Lit, ‘’created a 100 per cent complete campaign” featuring an App and a celebrity representative. It also featured an excellent song soundbite. It was delivered superbly and was a contender for the top spot. However, From The Flame scorched into first place to win with an amazing, dramatic delivery, incorporating a brilliant advert that had been captured on film, featuring the group who acted the scenes superbly. This potent combination amazed the audience.
The final was the culmination of lots of hard work over several months as they gained an in depth insight into the advertising industry via a scheme of work based on a real live advertising brief. The Ideas Foundation had provided this opportunity for the school in conjunction with the Comino Foundation.
Opportunities like this provide our students with a superb insight into the world of work.
