The Derby’s festival for the community to celebrate the opening of the new STEAM Garden was truly fabulous!
An array of stalls were on hand for guests to enjoy as singing, music and dance lit up the stage. Headteacher, Ms Hubert spoke of how the garden fulfilled a request from Derby students who wanted outdoor seating and a place to relax. The Garden has more than fulfilled this promise as the amazing outdoor learning space will provide superb opportunities for all areas of the curriculum.
The STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) Garden will be a platform for students to learn the essential elements of the curriculum as different lessons stimulate their imagination.
James Frith MP was on hand to praise the setting up of the Garden and the opportunities it brings. He cut the official cake. The sun shone on the evening and there was a fantastic atmosphere as guests enjoyed the refreshments and entertainment.
Derby Students supported the event and were excellent ambassadors. The Garden has been made possible with funding from Curious Minds, construction from Groundwork Landscapes Limited, all directed by architect Rachel Gildert. The Derby would like to thank the whole community from stall holders, sponsors and attendees for making this a fabulous festival.
