Our young chefs performed to an extremely high standard as they battled against competition from participants form three other schools in the Young Chef District Qualifying Round at Kingsway School in Cheadle.
The Rotary sponsored event, promised the three winning students a place in the Rotary District Final at Congleton on 28th February. The Derby’s talented chefs prepared the following dishes.
Fatima
Main course: Succulent chicken Manchurian served on a sizzler with egg fried rice
Dessert: Baked chocolate fondant served with cream filled raspberries and quenelle of cream chantile
Zainab
Main course: Salmon en croute – Salmon in flaky shortcrust pastry with a creamy hollandaise sauce served with spicy potato wedges
Dessert: Choux buns filled with creamy vanilla and drizzled with milk chocolate
Afreen
Main course: Chicken pasta bake – homemade pasta in a rich Ragu sauce
Dessert: Eclairs filled with whipped cream and drizzled in a chocolate sauce
We were delighted that our staff could be joined by Diana Cleary from Radcliffe Rotary Club to support the event.
The students were all amazing but, Zainab took one of the three coveted slots to go through to the next round-A superb achievement! Well Done!
