Our year 10 girls enjoyed a fabulous day at Salford University partaking in a variety of engineering tasks. This annual event always provides the opportunity for our girls to show their skill and ingenuity as they compete against other schools.
They had to design, build and fly a aeroplane carefully using mathematical skills to answer a variety of questions. The Solar Car exercise required them to select wheels and chassis structure to ensure that the motor driven car would be faster than it’s competitors. also on the theme of the speed of navigation they had to use coding to score points by directing a sphero around a tracks of varying levels of complexity. Building the highest observation tower also had to be completed considering both cost and aesthetics.
This was a thought provoking day that required clarity of thought and sustained focus.
