Innovative live streamed Prizegiving rewards students

Derby students were delighted to receive their Prizegiving awards in person on their return to school. An action-packed virtual awards ceremony was conducted whilst they were unable to attend in the summer with Heads of Year, The Head Teacher and Senior leaders all immersed in the live streamed event that had hundreds of parents and students avidly awaiting the results.

It was a phenomenal occasion filled with gratitude and enthusiasm for students who had shown tremendous resilience in adapting to new ways of working and with drive and determination successfully achieving great things. Fantastic new skills and talents from both students and staff were also on show.

Awards were given for the top ten in each year group based on their attitude to learning scores and Platinum badges were allocated to those students in each year group who had done something exceptional.

The Special Awards on offer were: Resilience Award, Environment Champion, Community Ambassador Award and 7Rs Award (given to the student who embodies the positive values of the school).

What better way to continue the spirit of enthusiasm and brilliance, celebrating magnificent students.

Assistant Headteacher Mrs Provoost who set up the Friends of The Derby High School Social Community Hub and watched the event live said:

“We are continuously exploring ways to improve our partnership with school stakeholders. The Hub has allowed us to continue with our work despite the current restrictions. We are incredibly excited about our plans for the Hub.”

Head Teacher Ms Hubert echoed this saying:

“Yet again our students continue to impress me with their resilience and determination to succeed. As a school we fully recognise the importance of rewarding students for their hard work. We will look for innovative ways of doing this whatever the future may hold.”
