Dance
The Dance curriculum at The Derby High School enables students to develop dance skills and techniques through three key strands: perform, create, and appreciate. Students learn to perform with control and expression, create original choreography, and appreciate professional works.
Through studying a range of dance styles and genres, students develop physical and expressive skills, stage and rehearsal discipline, and an understanding of the historical and cultural context of dance. The curriculum also promotes leadership, teamwork, and wellbeing, helping students appreciate the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle for both physical and mental health.
