Curriculum

 At The Derby High School, we offer a knowledge-rich, inclusive curriculum that values creativity, vocational excellence, and academic achievement equally. Our students study a broad and balanced range of subjects, with the opportunity to achieve nine GCSEs, supported by a unique Resilience Curriculum that threads personal, social, and life skills into every subject.

Explore Our Subjects

At Key Stage 3, students study a wide range of subjects which continue into Key Stage 4. Each subject area has its own curriculum map, outlining the topics covered throughout the year.

You can use these to support your child with revision, homework, or simply to understand what they are learning at school.

Key Stage Four Options

Students at The Derby study nine courses at GCSE.  All students study English Language, English Literature, Mathematics and Combined Science.  They also continue to have one lesson of core PE every week.  Students can then choose from the following subjects:

Art, Business Studies, Dance, Drama, Food Studies, French, Geography, History, ICT, Music, PE, Religious Studies, Engineering, Health & Social Care, Triple Science, Creative Digital Media, Photography, Computer Science.
