Music
What your child will learn in Music:
How you can help your child in Key Stage Three:
- Test your child on keywords related to the elements of music – available in student books and via homework tasks.
- Listen to a variety of genres of music and discuss what you/your child likes/dislikes about them; it is most important to say why – not that they like all music.
- Encourage your child to join one of the musical opportunities available as part of The Derby Diploma.
- Sing whenever you get the opportunity to!
How you can help your child in Key Stage Four (Edexcel):
- Make sure your child is rehearsing their performance pieces regularly, several times a week.
- Encourage your child to access the Microsoft Teams Music Channel and access the multitude of resources available to them.
- Listen to the setwork recordings regularly and ask your child questions about the pieces.
- Take your child to see live musical performances wherever possible.
- Test your child on subject specific keywords and their ability to categorise these into musical elements.
