Physical Education Curriculum Map 2025-2026

How you can help your child in Key Stage Three:

  • Support with organisation: Know when their PE lessons are and support them in preparing their kit the night before.
  • Maintain high standards of PE kit: Name/ label each item of PE kit to ensure they can be returned to your child should they temporarily misplace an item.
  • Encourage them to keep active: Encourage them to walk to school and join an enrichment activity to make new friends and support their physical development.
  • Encourage them to appreciate the value of physical activity for life: Discuss the value of physical activity and the benefits to their long-term physical health and mental wellbeing.
  • Enquire about their learning: Discuss with them what skills, terminology and rules they are learning in their lessons.

How you can help your child in Key Stage Four (Pearson BTEC Tech Award Level 1 and 2 Sport):

  • Provide BTEC kit: Ensure they have two full BTEC PE kits that are named as they may have up to 6 practical lessons over a two-week period.
  • Encourage participation in sport: Ensure they attend a sports enrichment activity in school, and/ or play sport at a club outside of school. Film all games played for club ensuring they are clearly identifiable. This will be sent to the exam board as assessment evidence.
  • Know coursework deadlines: Ensure they know and recognise the importance of meeting coursework deadlines during controlled assessments windows (dates will be shared with parents ahead of the window).
  • Test Key Vocabulary and terminology: Help your child memorise and apply technical terminology, which are essential for high marks.
  • Become immersed in the world of sport: Broaden their knowledge of sport. Watch sport on TV and discuss all aspects of what they see, hear and feel. Encourage them to make links to their own performances and the theory work they cover on the course.
