Welcome to The Derby High School

Thank you for choosing The Derby High School and congratulations on securing your child’s place!
We are thrilled to welcome our new Year 7 students and their families to our community and look forward to working together to ensure a smooth and positive start in September 2026.

Our dedicated Transition Team works closely with primary schools to make sure every child feels confident and excited about joining The Derby. Throughout the summer term, students and families will have the opportunity to visit, meet key staff, and experience life at our school.

Before You Join Us

Once you have received confirmation of your child’s place at The Derby High School, please contact us to accept it:

You’ll then receive:

• Welcome and information letters from our Transition Team (May & June 2026)

• Guidance about uniform, travel and equipment

• Our mobile phone policy and other useful documents

Copies of these letters will also be available to download from this page once issued.

Our Transition Process

• A member of the Transition Team visits each feeder primary school to meet new students and their teachers.

• Students joining from smaller schools are invited to an extra “getting to know you” session at Derby.

• Families are encouraged to attend both the Induction Day and Information Evening to help ensure a confident start.

• Throughout the summer, families can check this page for updates and key documents.
