Meet the Students
At The Derby High School, our students are at the heart of everything we do. Each one has their own story, ambitions, and achievements that make our school community so special.
Here, some of our students share their experiences of life at The Derby:
Harmony – Head Student
“In the future, I aspire to go into medicine and to continue supporting charities. I look forward to the day that I can come back as a fully qualified neurosurgeon to inspire the next generation of students to dream as big as I do.”
Harmony is one of our dedicated Head Students and has been part of The Derby High School community since Year 7. She has embraced every opportunity, from representing the school as an International Changemaker in Thailand to leading initiatives through the ETHOS charity group and School Council. Her passion for helping others and her commitment to making a difference embody the values that make The Derby such a special and inspiring place to learn.
Tristan – Head Student
“I aspire to one day study physics at university and become a physicist. I want to help others in my future career and inspire others to dream big and take every opportunity to make a difference.”
Tristan is a proud Head Student who has been part of The Derby High School community since Year 7. His journey has included leading as a School Council representative, mentoring younger students, and representing the school internationally as a Changemaker in Thailand. Passionate about science and innovation, Tristan’s curiosity and ambition reflect The Derby’s spirit of learning, leadership, and aspiration.
Parizay – Year 7
“I decided to come here because of the great facilities, the opportunity to stretch and challenge myself as a Derby Challenge student, and the incredible enrichment offer.”
Parizay joined The Derby High School this year and has already thrown herself into school life. She’s a keen learner with a passion for English and a dream of becoming a barrister. From football and netball tournaments to joining crochet, badminton, and the Ambition Ambassadors, she’s making the most of every opportunity to develop her confidence and skills.
Zainab – Year 7
“From my first visit, The Derby felt welcoming, I knew it was the right place for me.”
Zainab has aspired to be an astronaut or scientist since primary school and loves discovering new things through learning. She’s embraced the exciting range of enrichment activities available, from Tech Club and Photography to the Year 7 Sense of Belonging trip. Zainab is proud to be part of the School Council and enjoys helping others settle into the Derby community.
