Message from the Headteacher

Next week we enjoy our final week in school before we break for the summer holidays.

Very much we will be focused on CELEBRATIONS. What an amazing year we have had.

Tuesday is our Prizegiving Event and an opportunity to reflect on all we have done and achieved this year - recognising our immense student talents and the many successes they have had.

Thursday is our annual Garden Party. This year we have tied it in with the launch of our move to Prestolee Trust. Do come along and meet new colleagues we are now working with. There is no entrance charge and and we have refreshments, stalls and lots of entertainment and it promises to be a wonderful night.

Friday is our last day and students will have a final chance to celebrate the year with their forms before we, The Derby staff body, say our farewells to colleagues who have inspired and made a difference during their time here.

Lots as always to CELEBRATE.

Homework and Independent Learning

Helping your child to understand how we learn:

Retrieval practice is the strategy of recalling facts, concepts, or events from memory in order to enhance learning. The act of retrieving something from your memory actually strengthens the connections holding it there, making it more likely that you’ll be able to recall it in the future. Below are some of the strategies that we have spoken to your children about:

Homework Club

Please remind your child that homework club is available to all students Monday to Friday where they can complete work in a quiet environment with staff on hand to support them, and computers for online quizzes and research.
