The Library is located on B floor and is a busy hub of activity throughout the year. We run enrichment activities every lunchtime at which participation will earn students credits towards the Derby Diploma and achievement points.

The Library catalogue, Oliver V5, will show you all of the books and websites available. Check ‘Reading Lists’ to find resources relevant to curriculum topics and themed collections.

Browse 1,400 titles on our Wheeler’s e-book platform. Log in with your network username and the password ‘Derbyhigh1’.

Complete Issues contains hundreds of up to the minute articles on all sorts of issues such as Health and Animals. Perfect for an interesting and factual read or to support your research.

The Clubs run at the following times –

Monday – Puzzle Club 12:30 – 12:55pm

Tuesday – Spelling Bee 12:30 – 12:55pm

Wednesday – Quickfire Quizzers 12:30 – 12:55pm

Thursday – Silent Reading 12:25 – 12:55pm

Friday – Chess Club  12:30 – 12:55pm. Chess is playable every day and we hold regular tournaments during the Friday club.

On Tuesday mornings between 8:15 and 8:35am we run a Student Book Club where we discuss our reading and shadow the Bolton Book Awards and the Carnegie Book Awards.

Our team of Library Assistants and Student Librarians are on hand to assist Mrs Forkin and users of the Library at social times and we accept applications to join the team each half term. There is a meeting for all members of the Library team on Friday mornings between 8:15 and 8:35am.

To access the Library at lunchtimes students will need a barcode in their school planner, which they can collect at break time the day before. If students need access to the Library in the mornings before school starts, they can collect a Morning Pass at break time the day before.
